It's not so long ago that Gay Pride was a riot, with bricks being thrown and noses being broken. Blood dripped from bodies as they were hauled away in handcuffs by the police for disorderly conduct. Pride is truly a celebration, but it's also a memorial and an act of gratitude for so many people who have suffered on behalf of it. Let us not forget how quickly liberty slips away when taken for granted.
